Honeyman

When I heard myself playing drums 13 years earlier on this bootleg live album brought to me by Tim Buckley’s widow, I said, “I’m not supposed to be in this office.” I got up and walked out of Lorimar Telepictures.

1986 Lorimar

1986 Lorimar Telepictures making Dallas, Falconcrest, Knots Landing, Hunter. I was a Post Prod exec. soon to be a VP. No one knew I was a drummer. There were no drumming groups back then. Drumming was considered a degenerate act. Be glad and drum! Its been a long time coming! Hallelujah!

Drum With A View.

Drum With A View.
OUR PAST DOESN’T CHANGE. BUT OUR PERSPECTIVE ON EVENTS DOES CHANGE. When people are playing the healing grooves and they are intent on changing their behavior, they shift their point of view on their trauma of the past. This is not an intellectual action. Because the groove moves the body, it is a physical truth that body and mind understand. The belief system is reticent to change but the persuasive groove works on the rigidity that has been brought on by personal insults of all types. In the end, the grooves teach forgiveness, to ourselves, and it uses the heart vibrations to convince the mind to let it go-whatever it is.

Atrophy of Deep Critical Thinking

Atrophy of Deep Critical Thinking
Professor Kleinrock sent the first internet message from UCLA to SRI in 1969. He teaches internet theory, and remarked in the recent doc by Werner Herzog “Lo and Behold”.
“This generation of students lacks the ability for deep critical thinking.” He said, “They can’t understand something that is right in front of them. They have to google it. Its a problem.”
When confronted with a new item, this new mind has a tendency to shut it out, instead of investigating it. The worldwide web has become the receptacle for in-depth critical thinking. The individual does not have to think anymore. So they don’t. People who need rhythmic therapy shy away from the drum. They view their world from a fearful place.
